Filters, UVC & Aeration

Filters, UVC & Aeration More time to Relax

Pond filters and aerators are used together to ensure that your pond is crystal clear and remains in optimal condition year-round. The extensive line of OASE filters and aerators provide you with many options for maintaining a safe, clean, and healthy ecosystem for your fish and plants.

With the help of an OASE pond filtration system, you can be assured that your pond will remain in pristine condition, even under heavy biological load. Our pressure filters are ideal if you have a small to medium pond with or without a waterfall. If you have a larger pond with koi, our flow-through filters are recommended for optimal results. To experience more thorough filtration, our UV Clarifier can be attached to any of these flow-through filters to significantly reduce the buildup of suspended algae in your pond. To preserve healthy oxygen levels in your pond and ensure a lively and productive aquatic environment, we have developed aeration systems to efficiently meet this need.

Clean, beautiful water is a promise with the combination of an OASE filter, UV Clarifier and aerator - an excellent team!

In-Pond Filters

The OASE brand of products includes several types of filtration to help improve the health and beauty of your water garden. Some filters can be operated outside of the pond while others are strictly considered "in-pond" filters. In-pond filters are designed to be added to your pond for additional filtration. The greatest advantage to having an in-pond filter is that they can sit anywhere along the bottom of your pond. When unwanted debris sinks to the bottom of the pond, it will have a greater chance to get to the filter, leaving you with much cleaner water. Unlike other types of filters, in-pond filters come with a fountain nozzle kit, which will help aerate your pond and add much needed oxygen to the water. The Filtral UVC has an extra step of filtration by utilizing built-in UVC technology, which is designed to help clean green water, while still being safe for fish and plants.

Flow-Through Filters

A flow-through filter is fed water by the pump in the pond. The filter is the highest point in the cleaning cycle, located above the water level. From this point the cleaned water then flows back into the pond via gravity, which allows for maximum oxygenation. Special filter foams work to mechanically collect debris, as well as biologically clean the water. After a period of time, within these foams several industrious microorganisms form and decompose of the excess nutrients in the water.

The advantage to using a flow-through filter is that because they stand above the water surface at the edge of the pond, they are easy to access. Flow-through filters are ideal for medium-size and large ponds, or even for koi ponds. These flow-through filters are just another example of the innovative products offered by OASE so you can spend less time maintaining and more time enjoying your pond. For flow-through filters look at our BioSmart and BioTec Series.

Pressure Filters

Pressure filters are compact filters that can perform several tasks at the same time. First, the water is conveyed from the filter pump into the pressure filter, where the different filter media ensure cleaning of the water. Green water is then effectively cleaned through the integrated UV Clarifier. As opposed to flow-through filters, pressure filters maintain the pump's pressure throughout the entire filter which allows the filter to supply enough water to run a waterfall.

Pressure filters can be buried in the ground, even below the water level, and remain almost invisible. Another particular advantage of pressure filters in this regard is the convenient cleaning and maintenance of the filter from outside - it is not necessary to open the cover. Compact and effective with the proven OASE Clear Water Guarantee! For pressure filters look at our FiltoClear and BioPress Series.

UV Clarifiers

Every pond owner is happiest when the water is clear and healthy in their feature, but what happens when the suspended algae or other particles turn the water green and lessen the enjoyment of the pond? Good news, this can be overcome by integrating a UV Clarifier into your current pond system - ideally in combination with your filter.

The UV light cleans the green out of the water. If the water is then routed through a filter then any residue or debris that remains will be captured into the filter's foams. The result is that the pond water exiting the filter will be clean and clear.

Tip!

Be patient...
Important microorganisms that biologically clean the water settle on the sponges of the pond filter. These micro-organisms feed on minute particles that we perceive as debris - a new or recently cleaned filter only attains its full performance capacity gradually; the microbiology must first establish itself. In addition ensure that there is additional oxygen - for example with an AquaOxy pond aerator.

Pond Aerators

Oxygen plays a major role in every healthy pond. Higher amounts of dissolved oxygen lead to a better environment for both fish and beneficial bacteria. Pond aerators are a great tool for achieving higher oxygen levels. As water temperature increase, water loses its ability to retain dissolved oxygen making aerators even more important during the warmer months. Aeration can also provide additional benefits for any of the OASE flow-through filters. The additional oxygen enhances beneficial bacteria growth when the airstone is placed inside the filter. This provides the filters with the extra boost needed to operate at peak performance.

Aeration in winter months is used to maintain the important gas exchange opening in an ice covered pond. Without this exchange your pond has the potential to build up gases from the nitrogen cycle that are dangerous to your fish.
