For oxygen in the pond
Oxygen plays a major role in every healthy pond. Higher amounts of dissolved oxygen lead to a better environment for both fish and beneficial bacteria. Pond aerators are a great tool for achieving higher oxygen levels. As water temperatures increase, water loses its ability to retain dissolved oxygen making aerators even more important during the warmer months. Aeration can also provide additional benefits for any of the OASE flow-through filters. The additional oxygen enhances beneficial bacteria growth when the air stone is placed inside the filter. This provides the filters with the extra boost needed to operate at peak performance.
Aeration in winter months is used to maintain the important gas exchange opening in an ice-covered pond. Without this exchange, your pond has the potential to build up gases from the nitrogen cycle that are dangerous to your fish.
