Filters

Ensure high water quality and clarity

First and foremost, a quality filter ensures clean water and promotes fish healthy.  In conjunction with regular partial water changes the ecosystem in balance.  Filters also helps generate flow, absorbs substances that causes turbidity, and enriches the water with oxygen.  Beneficial bacteria that settles within the filter media helps to break down and remove waste from aquarium inhabitants.

To select the correct filter, first consider the size of the aquarium.  Most aquarium filters are rated for a certain aquarium volume.  Next, consider the number of inhabitants in the aquarium. Higher volumes of fish will require more filtration.  As a rule of thumb, it is best a filter that is rated for more water volume than your tank has.  Because your filter will operate continuously for water quality it is important to find a premium filter that operates quietly.

Internal Filters

An internal filter is placed inside of the aquarium and is particularly suited for aquariums up to 30 gallons, if space is not available externally, or as secondary filter.  One advantage of internal filters is that they require no additional tubing or connections to disrupt the overall appearance.

External Filters
